Jane Marshall All Creatures Great and Small

We are honored to announce our next Gallery 905 exhibition:
Creatures Great & Small, featuring the ceramic works of Alabama artist Jane Marshall.

Jane’s art is rooted in nature, not just as subject matter but as a way of seeing. She spends long stretches outdoors simply watching: birds circling overhead, koi moving beneath the water’s surface, animals waiting, surviving, interacting, and adapting. These observations become the foundation for her sculptures, prints, and paintings, all of which explore the balance, instinct, and fragility found in the natural world.

Jane is an artist of remarkable depth and versatility, working in ceramics, painting, printmaking, book arts, and more. Her solo and group exhibitions have been hosted by the Sheldon Swope Art Museum, New Orleans Museum of Art, Montgomery Museum of Fine Arts, University of Montevallo, University of Wisconsin–Madison, and the Madison Art Center, among many others.

Her work is held in collections including:

• The Library of Congress
• Children’s Hospital of Alabama
• Montgomery Museum of Fine Arts
• University of Wisconsin–Madison
• New York Public Library Rare Book Collection

She has also served as Visiting Artist or Artist in Residence at Cornell University, Studio in the Woods in New Orleans, Tandem Press, University of Arizona, and Western Michigan University.
