‘Vine Man’ to be honored at Gallery 905 reception

Gallery 905 is pleased to announce “Entangled,” a solo exhibition by renowned Alabama folk artist Andrew McCall, opening with a reception on Thursday, Aug. 7, at 5:30 p.m. Known as the “Vine Man,” McCall has spent four decades crafting baskets, furniture, and whimsical objects from natural and salvaged materials. Using wild wisteria, grape, and kudzu vines gathered near his home south of Montgomery, McCall’s work reflects both deep creativity and spiritual inspiration. A self-described “God-taught artist,” McCall allows the materials to guide his process: “Working with a vine is kind of like dancing, you have to let it tell you what to do.”

This exhibition offers a rare opportunity to experience the artistry and storytelling of one of Alabama’s most beloved folk craftsmen. The reception is free and open to the public.
